The new arena will provide an improved showing experience for both the FFA and 4-H exhibitors showing and selling their animals and the public attending the shows and sale.
The PA FFA Foundation believes agricultural education students should have the maximum opportunity to grow and succeed, leaving high school as prepared as is possible for the world ahead. By completing the Learning By Doing grant application, the Pennsylvania FFA Foundation is making an investment in Agriculture Education. Funds allocated through the Learning by Doing Grants are intended to make a lasting impact into the future Pennsylvania’s agriculture education.
The total funds requested for the 2016-2017 Learning by Doing Grant program was $34,927 from 42 total applications. The competition was steep and applications were judged by 3 FFA Foundation trustees. All funds generated for this grant come from PA FFA Foundation food concessions at Ag Progress Days and PA Farm Show.
Skyler Anderson was awarded a grant for her Market Goats SAE Project to purchase goat fitting equipment. Skyler is a member of the Manheim FFA Livestock Show Team.
The Manheim Ag-Ed program was awarded funds to purchase PSU Soil Testing Kits and Agronomy Guides. All members of the Manheim FFA Livestock Show Team are required to have DEP Manure Management plans. Those plans require the testing of soils in livestock pastures. The PSU Agronomy Guides will help students make educated choices about the BMP’s of the soils on their farm properties.
